I feel like I should be posting updates but really there isn't much to say. I've gathered all of our documents for the home study. All we need now are our physicals but we can't do that until the first week of January, so that has to wait a few more weeks. Once that is finished, we'll have our home visit and then after that we'll be hopefully be finished with the home study. I know it sounds simple, but it really isn't. The pile of documents and forms for our homestudy has take a lot of time to compile and I know that is probably nothing compared to our dossier, which will need to be mailed to our country before we travel.
Things are still a bit crazy in our child's country. Laws are still being decided about who gets to be adopted and when, so we are in a good position right now. Many families who started before us are frustrated and having to make tough decisions. I don't envy them at all.
For now, the plan is to just keep moving forward, taking it one step at a time. I feel confident that before we travel, everything will be worked our and our adoption will go smoothly. Until then, money needs to be earned. I've been working hard listing things on ebay, having bake sales, passing out flyers and holding a giveaway for a Kindle Fire. Today, I just added another prize, so hopefully that will bring in a few more entries. We are hoping to do enough fundraising to cover the cost of our final payment for our homestudy.
So, not much of an update. We're hopeful and excited about adopting and absolutely can't wait to get there and meet our child, but for now we are just moving along.
